Barbara, that sounds legit to me! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Funny, I would trust something that Barbara says over most anything else. She has credibility.

it is expected that at the 2014 annual meeting, usually held the first saturday in october, will serve watchtower leaders well to cover-up all the 100-years of prophetic nonsense.
rumor has it they are going to celebrate their 100-years of announcing the kingdom in an adroit way by featuring a move of "great" significance to do with the expansion of the governing body to an "apostolic" 12 or some other fantasy idea.. .

in another sign mormons are feeling an opportunity to express dissident views to the church heirarchy students at byu protested the ban on beards.
calling it an antiquated position.
www.huffingtonpost.com byu beards.
If a religion makes up rules about every facet of a person's life, especially minor things like grooming or clothing, they can then use that control of "little things" and get their followers to obey big things.
i was wondering how many of you suffered badly with depression when you were in "the truth" and if you feel your depression was related to being part of the organisation?
are you better now you have left or still have issue's?
whatever your experience's i would be very intrested to know (if you feel you can talk about it.).
I have been baptized for 25 years. I have seen a lot of people suffer in "the truth". Particularly adult single sisters and married sisters. The JW game is completely rigged against them. It is set up to keep them under control, franticly running fool's errands, unable to seek any real fulfillment in their lives. If we actually could do a comprehensive survey and study of the JW culture and its members I am convinced we would see astronomical levels of depression amongst the women in "the truth". I am also convinced we would see unprecedented rates of highly mysterious illnesses such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, Lupus, etc. Now, I am not minimizing or criticizing the women who have or think they have these illnesses. They are obviously suffering physically. But I am a big believer in the overwhelming stress of living a contrived JW life as the main factor in these women being so sick and so unable to live normal lives.
What is incredibly sad is that these people who suffer from this depression and very *real-to-them* mysterious illnesses will almost always come to a conclusion, with the help of their fellow devout JW's and the constant stream of "do more, pray more, preach more" bilge from the GB, that they have allowed themselves to be flawed, have not tried hard enough, and that their solution to everything is more field service. They do not step back and take a very real assessment of their life and make very drastic changes to it so as to regain some level of happiness. Instead, that happiness is projected down the road to some fuzzy other life they are expecting to have one day. No value is put on living well in the life they have RIGHT NOW!!!!!! It is the ultimate procrastination. To procrastinate a fulfilling life now for one you assumed is promised to you. So hollow.
making up my mind on how to teach my son values in life seems to be an on going struggle of what is right and wrong.
being raised in a sheltered jw life until after leaving high school seems like going from one extreme to another of being over restrictive or under.
trying to find that balance.
I spend a lot of time wondering about how I will teach my kids about God and help achieve a faith without the structure of the JW's. I am proud of the morals and principles I have. They came partly due to my JW upbringing. But, I also realize that it is a cult and I cannot allow my children to experience the risk of being chewed up and spit out by the same cult. I have no answers for you Princess Ashe. I just want you to know I have some of the very same concerns.
imo zeppelin is on of the top 10 all time bands.. anyone catch plante on fallon?.

I watched Robert on the Tonight Show. He was fantastic as usual.
Nosferatu, clearly you have severe limitations with your musical taste. Did you not hear the album Robert did with Alison that cleaned house on the Grammy's? Hello?

Steve2, you cracked me up. That was a good one, mate! According to the GB, women can be chosen by Jesus to serve with him in heaven but they must be submissive doormats while here on earth. Funny how that works out, eh?
I will say, after experiencing last year's Annual Mtg Dog and Pony Show (aka- 4 hours of my life I really wish I could have instead spent mucking out animal pens) for the first time in my life, I can honestly say that I am prepared to hear that this year's Clergy Hoedown could have absolutely anything as a big announcement. I mean, come on....... after you re-write the Bible, everything else is just absurdity, no?
so last night i was talking to my sister about how i admired president obama's speech to the u.n that happened earlier that day.. i then compared the extremism of isis to how much of a fanatic my jw bil is.. at the end of the statement , my mom walked in to the kitchen.
she was standing in the living room and she heard everything i said.. she called the elders that night to tell them what i said so they can counsel me.. i'm going to meet with them after the meeting on sunday!.
what do i do?!!!!!.
But as for your question..... in my experience dealing with anyone who *thinks* they have authority over you and want to manipulate you....... play dumb. Tell them as little as possible. Deny, deny like OTWO just said.

I am more concerned about you admiring Obama. You need some help there.
we recently were visiting lifelong friends of ours in another state.
these people are uber-devoted jw's.
i mean they are prototypical "witness zombies" who do exactly what the gb tell them to without fail and always with a smile on their face.
Between the violent imagery of the My Book of Bible Stories (which I do not allow my children to look at) and the slick "obey and be blessed" indoctrination of the Caleb videos, plus the Zombie Witnesses pushing JW.org all day every day...... it is overwhelming how much a kid can get screwed up before they even have a chance to develop their own minds.

good riddance!.
Good!
